When my husband surprised me with a trip to Dubai for my birthday, I did not know what to feel. Dubai has always been at the top of my list of places to visit, and it has quickly become one of my favorite cities. I was not expecting to love Dubai so much, but it was an entirely magical time, and I would like to share it with you. As you may know, Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf. The summers are extremely hot and dry, so it is recommended to travel during the winter time when the temperatures are a little bit more comfortable. My family and I went during the “colder” season, and it was perfect. We went in February when the temperatures were still in the 70’s and 80’s. This allowed us to explore the beautiful city and truly enjoy our time there.
While we were in Dubai, we toured many places. I will share some of those areas with you today to hopefully help you with your trip planning or inspire you to visit the spectacular city. My husband and I planned everything ahead of time which I believe is the most significant key when it comes to getting the most out of your vacation. You must prepare everything!
Dubai Marina is located precisely in front of Jumeirah Lake Towers on the opposite side of Sheikh Zayed Road. It is an artificial canal city that stretches almost 1.8 miles along the Persian Gulf Shore. Construction of the district began in 2003, and while most of it has been completed, there are still several buildings being built. The Marina is more of a residential area surrounded by apartments and hotels. But don’t let that scare you away, it is definitely one place you should visit. It is perfect for a morning jog or evening stroll. There are quite a few restaurants and coffee shops you can try out that have gorgeous views of the water.
Jumeirah Beach is located on the Persian Gulf. It is a white sand beach and was named after the Jumeirah district of Dubai. The beach stretches a great deal, providing you with a right amount of space for relaxing and playing (if you have children like me). Along the coast are many beautiful hotels, including the most famous one, the Burj Al Arab which can be seen behind me in the above photo.
Atlantis is located at the apex of the Palm Jumeirah in the United Arab Emirates. The resort was opened to the public September 15 of 2008. We took a one day tour to explore this beautiful Aquaventure Waterpark and had a blast. Our little baby girl enjoyed every second of it, so I highly recommend you check it out if you are traveling with children.
Every famous city has an iconic structure to remember it by. The Burj Khalifa is Dubai’s. It is the tallest building in the world, standing 163 floors above ground. The last three levels cannot be accessed by the public. Construction of the building started back in 2004 and took five years to complete. On January 4th of 2010, the Burj Khalifa was opened up to the public. You must go thru the Dubai Mall to get into the building. I highly recommend purchasing your tickets ahead of time to secure a spot. There is a limit on how many people can go each day, and it can get hectic as it is a popular tourist attraction. The elevator takes you up in 55 seconds to the viewing platform located on the 124th floor. The view from the top is breathtakingly beautiful. If you choose to go in the evening, you will be able to witness the stunning Arabian sunset and the fountain show which starts around 6:15 p.m. Regardless of the time of day you decide to go, you will experience breathtaking views that will leave you speechless.
